bus ik rait ka zarra bacha tha ankhon men
abhi talak who musafir ka raasta dekhay
issi se pooche koi dasht ki rafaqat ka
jab khulay ankh paharhon ka silsila dekhay
tujhe aziz tha aur men ne iss ko jeet lia
meri taraf b to ik pal tera khuda dekhay
رہتے تھے پستیوں میں مگر خود پسند تھے
ہم لوگ اِس لحاظ سے کتنے بلند تھے
آخر کو سو گئی کھلی گلیوں میں چاندنی
کل شب تمام شہر کے دروازے بند تھے
گزرے تو ہنستے شہر کو نمناک کر گئے
جھونکے ہوائے شب کے بڑے دردمند تھے
موسم نے بال و پر تو سنوارے بہت مگر
اُڑتے کہاں کہ ہم تو اسیرِ کمند تھے
وہ ایک تُو کہ ہم کو مٹا کر تھا مطمئن
وہ ایک ہم کہ پھر بھی حریصِ گزند تھے
محسن" ریا کے نام پہ ساتھی تھے بے شمار
