اے ارضِ وطن، ہم تیرے لئے اک نظم لکھیں
تِتلی کے پروں سے رنگ چُنیں
ان سازوں سے آہنگ چنیں
جو رُوح میں بجتے رہتے ہیں
اور خواب بُنیں اُن پھولوں کے
جو تیری مہک سے وابستہ
یر آنکھ میں سجتے رہتے ہیں
ہر عکس ہو جس میں لا ثانی
ہم ایسا اک ارژنگ چُنیں
تِتلی کے پروں سے رنگ چنیں
اور نظم لکھیں
وہ نظم کہ جس کے حرفوں جیسے حرف کسی ابجد میں نہیں
وہ رنگ اُتاریں لفظوں میں جو قوسِ قزح کی زد میں نہیں
اور جس کی ہر اِک سطر میں خوشبو ایسے لہریں لیتی ہو
جو وہم و گماں کی حد میں نہیں
اور جب یہ سب انہونی باتیں، ان دیکھی، ان چُھوئی چیزیں
اِک دُوجے میں مل جائے تو نظم بنے
اے ارضِ وطن وہ نظم بنے جو اپنی بُنت میں کامِل ہو
جو تیری رُوپ کے شایاں ہو اور میرے ہنر کا حاصل ہو
اے ارضِ اماں، اے ارضِ وطن
تُو شاد رہے آباد رہے
میں تیرا تھا، میں تیرا ہوں
بس اتنا تُجھ کو یاد رہے
اِس کِشتِ ہُنر میں جو کچھ ہے
کب میرا ہے
سب تُجھ سے ہے، سب تیرا ہے
یہ حرف و سخن، یہ لوح و قلم
سب اُڑتی دُھول مُسافت کی
سب جوگی والا پھیرا ہے
سب تجھ سے ہے، سب تیرا ہے
سب تیرا ہے

میں نے تجھے اس عمر میں چاہا تھا اے ارض وطن
جب شعور آج کی صورت مرا بیدار نہ تھا
میں نے اس وقت بھی لکھے تھے گیت ترے
جب مرے ذہن میں لفظوں کا انبار نہ تھا
اک بے نام سی خلش رکھتی تھی بے چین مجھے
جب مرے بس میں جزبوں کا اظہار نہ تھا
یاد ہیں مجھ کو وہ آغاز سفر کی باتیں
کون تھا جو تری چاہت میں گرفتار نہ تھا
آگ میں پھول کھلاتے ہوۓ آتے تھے مگر
کوئ لب حرف,شکایت کا گنہگار نہ تھا
صبر اور شکر کے پیکر تھے سب ہی دیوانے
حوس و حرص میں کوئ بھی گرفتار نہ تھا
عزم روشن تھا نگاہوں میں شراروں کی طرح
مرحلہ کوئ بھی اپنے لۓ دشوار نہ تھا
آج کیا بات ہے کیوں تجھ سے ہمیں پیار نہیں
ایسا لگتا ہے ہمیں تجھ سے کبھی پیار نہ تھا
آج کیوں قرض وطن بھول گۓ ہیں ہم لوگ
پہلے تو اپنی وفاؤں کا یہ معیار نہ تھا
